Most, but not all, of my Agastache survived this winter, in a well drained spot with a mulch of well-rotted manure, and a winter that was mild and not particularly wet. The variety was Crazy Fortune.
It will not be Agastache Blue fortune that's a sterile variety . Agastache are quite easy from seed sown in early spring and will flower in the same year. You can try cutting not the easiest to root but its maybe a try .
I grew the white ones from seeds sown in Spring, they seemed to be short lived here, good for a couple of years, then died in a particulars cold winter. it is amazing how one seed can make a plant like these.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Flipping eck Lynn, that is a picture that is pal. Do you know, like you say one little seed did all that and in its first year, UNBELIEVABLE 🤷🏻♀️ When you get a show like that you could well afford to just sow new ones every year. Don’t know now mine will fair over winter, time will tell 💋
@Lyn sent me seed of her white ones a few years ago. They made good big bushy plants maybe 5 feet tall, some white flowers and some blue, and came through the winter fine. They died back of course, they're herbaceous, but start growing quite early in the spring, well before A. Blackadder which I also have. Perhaps I'd better save some seed in case they don't make another winter.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
1. grow new plants from seed but probably best to sow in the Spring and store your seeds in the fridge over the winter
2. take cuttings from the plants you want to keep and root them in a mix of seed compost and perlite or grit...they aren't quite as easy as Salvia cuttings but they do mostly grow roots;
3. my Agastaches have survived the past few winters. If you don't have a really heavy or waterlogged soil and do not live too far north or halfway up a mountain, just mulch the crowns with some dry leaves or similar and they should come through unless we have really bad frosts. A sunny position helps.
