Wisteria vines

My little wisteria is growing up nicely and he has three obvious vines snaking off him. I don’t know whether I’m supposed to prune all but the main vine? I want to train him up my pergola.. should I give some vines the chop or keep them all?

    I'd train them for the first few years before aiming for spur pruning.
