California sagebrush

Hi all,

I have a plant in a pot outside which I think I've identified as a California sagebrush. It was here when I moved in and has never looked great - it is definitely still alive with green leaves, its just a bit sparse and twig like. It's always looked the same, year round. I live in the North of Scotland so maybe the climate just doesn't suit it? I'm not sure how to help it along.. Any ideas?

@eilidh.drummond All Artemesias like good drainage so I expect it is suffering during the winter months could be too wet? Welcome.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Thank you, that is very possible as it is really wet here and it's always been outdoors!
  • @esd123 You are welcome. All sages like a drier soil. You may be able to prune it but I think a corrrect id to be sure would be a good idea. Is it a woody shrub?

Yes, here's a close up I took when trying to identify it.
