Sunflowers thriving

Very chuffed that 12 sunflower seeds snavelled from some birdseed and planted in paper coffee cups on 30May, have exactly two months later produced tiny flower heads. They consumed copious amounts of water but thrived in a baking hot porch. Just hoping they thrive when transplanted to next accommodation.  Should provide a nice treat for the birds come winter.

Do share some pics. Freebies always have a sweetness to them.  My bird feeders usually drop sunflower seeds here and give rise to some great flowers.

Gosh. It's good to pot them on when they are about a foot high. They've done well, considering they are tall and growing in a coffee cup. I harden them off and then plant them out asap. Keep watering them well.

I'm not sure you will get flowers...  Once there is no frost, sunflowers need to be outside as they need the full spectrum and intensity of sunlight. Yours are very tall and thin because they are not getting those. Assuming you are in the UK, the time to put outside is usually May/June.  If you don't have a garden, a sunny front step can be fine if you have one, for sunflowers in a pot.

I think you need to look up what the word thrive means.
Struggling would be more apt I think.
