Wisteria

I’ve had a wisteria for about 3 months and it’s grown really well - about 6 - 7ft in that time but over the last 2 weeks it’s started yellowing and losing leaves - at first I thought I had been over watering it (I stopped for about 10 days) and now it looks wilted and has lost all the leaves in the mid-section.

I watered it this morning as the soil is really dry.

please help. I thought I was doing well with this!!

thanks

Si

It won’t live in that pot,  they need to be in the ground or an enormous pot,  they are huge plants,  like trees.

Agree with Lyn, of course. It always baffles me that people insist on growing in pots/containers plants which are naturally bound to grow into trees or huge climbers, as a Wisteria. ;)
  • Thankyou. Will source a larger pot. Is the wisteria stressed at the moment you think?

They’re beautiful plants,  haven’t you got a space in your garden where it can stretch it’s roots and be what it wants to be.?
This one’s been in for about 5 or 6 years.

Have a look at the photo of @Obelixx ‘s wisteria posted on this thread in April 2021

to show you what your wisteria can be if you give it what it needs.

Obi’s wisterias are gorgeous,  I don’t think they’re suited to a bungalow,  I think it will outgrow our space very soon.

It’s not a bungalow - it’s a barn conversion so has loads of space.
  • Well it has stop wilted now I’ve watered it (funny old thing) but still getting leaf loss. Maybe it’s just autumn kicking in after the stressful hot summer.
