Clematis cirrhosa Jingle Bells leave turning brown

Hi

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my Clematis cirrhosa Jingle Bells please.  The leaves are turning a bronze/brown colour around the edges.  Some leaves have gone crumbly around the edges too.  Not all leaves are affected though.  Image attached.

Drought? Try giving it more water ,see if that helps

My Clem. cirr. 'Freckles' has brown leaves and is losing a lot of them ... it usually looks a bit ropey at this time of year and always recovers ...  it's worse than usual. but  I've been pouring what water I can spare on the roots and crossing my fingers ... buckets full at a time so the roots get a soaking ... I think it'll recover ok.

I have a related one too, and it's looking terrible. It's about five years in but needs much more water than I can give it

My jingle bells is doung the same, though more yellow than bronze. I have been watering it (occasional big drenching) but as @Fire suggested it's not enough.  Down here the soil is still like dust despite the couple of showers we've had lately.

I'm not too worried, pretty confident it will recover if we get some rain in the autumn.

My plant is utterly frustrating and I'm going to take it out. I keep saying that.

Thanks everyone.  The drought theory does seem to make sense to me and I have been dousing it every day this past week.

The UK most definitely needs rain and it does look like some might be on the way for us next week.

In the meantime I will keep watering it and hope for the best.
