Yucca

Hi, hope everyone out there is coping and managing to handle the covid situation and on top of that the extreme heat....please may any of you help me and solve what is happening to my outdoor yucca plant....there are leaves that have been bunched together as they've been tied together at tops, please see pic, sorry not very clear but you can just determine the groups of bunched leaves......."curiosity killed the cat" so I'm truly hoping someone out there can provide an answer before curiosity does its work on me.....thank you all who read this and for your time....please someone help.....all take care, have a good day...... I don't know the proper names for things, so bear with me. This is my theory, I have seen it but I'm no biologist. The leaves that are 'tied' together have either failed to withdraw successfully from a sort of sheath that encloses them while they are immature or they have become stuck during some developmental stage. Perhaps the heat or sudden rain. Anyway, wearing protective gloves, it should be possible to separate them, very gently and carefully.
If this theory is madness, please sneer privately.

I'd put a long screwdriver, or breadknife into the "clump" and gently work upwards. I reckon they'd "ping" apart.

  • Posy I like your madness ;) .... seems good to me... although I  think my yucca produced leaves in the past only from the centre but then again madness agreed has a mystifying effect on ones mind.....thank you ever so for introducing me to your madness and I understand whole heartedly what you've explained and agree you be right....many thanks .....take care....have a good day, hope you enjoying the weather in Isle of White.... :)
  • Hostafan 1.....thanks for sticking with me, your advice for how and which implement to use for "pinging" open the leaves I'll definitely put into action.....thanks take care.. :)
