Rose bush name.

Could anyone please tell me if there is a rose bush called Douglas and if so what colour it is.

Sharon, if that one Pete suggests doesn’t take your fancy, there are several companies that offer a ‘rose naming service’, such as https://www.dickson-roses.co.uk/rose-naming-opportunities or https://www.countrygardenroses.co.uk/shop/31-Name-Your-Own-Rose/
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

  • I Loved my dad dearly who I lost on 30th of June but a £1000 to name a rose after him is far too much money and I know he would never want me to do that. But thank you for your help anyway.

Since it is for your dad (my condolences), perhaps a rose such as "In Loving Memory"?

This site has some more suggestions.

Or... perhaps more personal... but not necessarily based on his name. E.g. my darling father-in-law, who was killed last year, was a fan of Morecambe and Wise, so I will probablt get the new rose "Bring Me Sunshine" in his memory when we come to plant his ashes.

Or there are a lot of literary roses too, if you think what your dad liked to read.

Wow, sorry I didn’t notice the crazy price, no Dad would’ve approved of spending that!

You could of course just get any lovely, fragrant rose in his favourite colour and rechristen it (maybe with a nice little plaque) Douglas. After all, those name a rose companies are doing exactly that!

When my Dad died, a while ago now, Mum wanted roses for his funeral. Dad was mad keen on motor racing and the florist found a rose called Grand Prix.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
