Cotinus

Hello. I have a beautiful large Cotinus. Is it possible to prune this in the Winter? Thanks in advance.

    I was advised to prune as growth started in spring but it did much better when I cut it right back at the end of January

    I pruned mine in early spring before it started into growth (about late Feb/early March), but I think winter would work too. It's hardy so it shouldn't matter if the pruning promotes growth in a mild spell and then it gets cold again.
