Calathea Maulqueen

Does anyone know why my plants leaves have gone like this? It is kept in a bright spot out of direct sunlight. I water it only when the top 5cms or so of soil is dry. I feed it with houseplant food every other watering. I have another Calathea that is about 3yrs old & kept in the same room & never had any problems. Any help is much appreciated.

I’d say it wants repotting into a bigger pot .

Are the leaves covered in very tiny spots?
    If so it's spider mites.
They appeared on my pinstripe calathea.
I used some warm water in a bowl and added just a few drops of washing up liquid then wiped the leaves with a cloth soaked that. The mites live on the underside of the leaves.
I done it once every 5 days and after the 3rd time I've not seen them since but I'm keeping a close eye on it and keeping it away from other plants.

Thank you for replying. No there isn’t anything on the underside of the leaves. It looks like rusty spots & the leaves are quite limp as if it’s not been watered.
  • pcpathome,
thank you for replying. I’ve only had the plant about 4weeks but will definitely check that it isn’t pot bound.

Thee leaves in your photo look like they have dust on them - that's typical of spider mites. You may also notice tiny webs here and there.
The mites are not visible without magnification - you'd need a magnifying glass. They are minute-
