Did I see Monty Don replant spring onions?

About 3 or 4 weeks ago did anyone see Monty Don replanting spring onions that had already been harvested? The spring onions stiil had the green shoots on, and the roots looked like they had only just been pulled out of the ground. I assume they may have been put back in the soil to grow larger. Could I have been right, or am I mistaken?

I don’t recall seeing it but could he have been planting leeks?

It’s the time of year for it …

  • He could have been, Dove. But I don't know the size of Leeks at planting time. Are they about the size of spring onions?

Yes … about the size of a pencil … you make a hole in the ground, trim the roots of the leeks and pop the plants in the hole and water them in.

  • Ok.I had convinced myself that they were spring onions. So I kind of had some spring onions from the supermarket that were ok size, but not large, so they got replanted. :)

Probably been in the ground about 2 weeks now.
