What happened to these peppers?

Hi guys,

I have grown my own chilli's and peppers in the greenhouse and some of them have developed these brown thin patches.

Can anyone tell me why this is? I can't say it's over watering because during this heat the pots have dried out every single day completely before I watered again.

Thanks
Craigh

It might be something called "Sunscald", but l'm not 100% sure.

I guess there are 2 possibilities.
If that side of the fruit is facing the sun it's likely to be sunburn - some of mine have it.
If not, then it's down to watering and the compost drying out (causing blossom end rot - even though it's not at the blossom end!) - some of mine have that too for the same reason as yours - the pots have dried out within a few hours of watering in the heatwave.
Newer fruits should be ok if you get the watering right

Yes, I agree with @AnniD    Scorched by the sun.  I have it too on the peppers that are exposed.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Ah right well sun scald makes sense because yes the sides which have the brown patch does face the sun.

Will they still be ok to eat if I take out the bad part?

Couple of mine did that,  take them off as soon as you can,  cut that bit out, it’s perfectly fine inside.

Ok will try that! Some of them are just starting to turn red. I can't wait to taste them :)
