Sorbaria Sem

Due to the dry weather, my Sorbaria Sem has dropped nearly all of its leaves. It had seemed to be coping quite well so I stuck to watering plants that were struggling but the Sorbaria took a turn for the worse quite quickly. Although it's shed almost all of its leaves, new buds are appearing. Should I cut it back now or wait until the spring as usual?

Water it well and leave it, it may well leave up again this year.

Don’t cut it back just yet .
  • Had a feeling that's what the recommendation would be. The buds are still going strong so I at least know it's still alive!

@februarysgirl It is a really tough plant will take alot to kill it!
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • As others have said, they are seriously tough. In fact I just bought another one because I had a problem spot in the garden where things kept struggling. I have three already in various situations and they always do well. Once had one in a pot that dried out and all the leaves fell off. Was back to normal the following year.
