Wrong dahlia tubers from Thompson & Morgan

I know this is an old thread from last year, but I was searching to see if anyone had had the same problem as me.  I ordered 7 different varieties of dahlia from Thompson & Morgan over the winter.  So far, 4 have started flowering and 3 of those 4 are completely the wrong varieties (they are supposed to be cactus and pompon dahlias, but have come up as single-flowered).  I do like single-flowering dahlias, but my wife likes the other types, especially to cut for the house -  I'd bought them to please her and I'm a little disappointed to say the least!

I'm wondering if others have had the same problem.  I've written to the company and I'll post on here if & how they respond.

Hmmm at the very least they should send an apology and a bouquet for your wife … 💐

Shaming them on Social Media seems the best way to get a response.

I think it's a pretty common problem. It wouldn't surprise me if they sell out of some tubers and simply send a replacement in the knowledge that most people won't complain, that seems to be how a lot of these companies work now.
I stopped using them when they continuously sent rotten tubers.

If they sent replacements they were still mislabeled - as the tubers all came in compostable bags with the name of the dahlia on them (which matched the original order).

Dahlia tubers - such a lottery!  I've had wrongly labelled varieties in the past that have turned out to be inferior to those I ordered, or have failed to develop at all.

But they are so lovely you just have to keep trying.

It's quite straightforward to sort out.
    Just send them this.

    Dear Sirs
I ordered xxx from you on xxx.
The dahlias are now in flower and it is obvious they are not what I ordered.

I sent an email with photos attached which probably helped.

I never order from those shysters!
On the plus side, the open dahlias are way better for pollinators 😁

I don't know if they package the tubers themselves or buy them in (I didn't think they grew a lot of their plants but could be wrong), so perhaps they have been mis sold the tubers as well.
When I had a problem it was like getting blood out of a stone with their customer service department, I'm normally someone who doesn't get annoyed but they were very rude and accusatorial towards me.
