    sloes, for making Sloe Gin!
    They need to be ripe and preferably have a frost on them before they are ready.

    Prunus spinosa ...common name sloes have nasty thorns.
    Please can you check for those

    It seems very early to have ripe fruit.
    Sloe fruit have a dot on the end which I cannot see in the pics...see below

    hedgerows around here have lots of ripe sloes - I was very surprised.

    Yes … ripe sloes around here too. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
