Figs

I don't want them but I've had one or two expressions of interest.😏
My brown turkey has produced quite a few figs. They're the size of conkers and are going dark green. Will they swell up a bit and if they don't, will they be edible when ripe?

In England the ones that usually ripen are gigs that started last year and overwintered on the tree as small pea-sized fruits. They then swell and ripen the following summer. We’ve already eaten ours. 😋
However in areas around the Med etc they get 2 or sometimes 3 crops a year … usually the fruit swelling on our tree at this time of year doesn’t ripen before the winter weather ruins it … this year with this weather?  Who knows?  It’s looking promising … I’m watching our with interest ..,

I've had two figs! And I think there is another one to come. This is more than last year...
I did think that all the figs you get to eat off a tree are from previous year.
  • For the last 2 years our fig has suffered with frosts in April. The growth then stops and only starts again in June. So again no figs. It is in a sheltered position and didn't suffer in 2010 when we had -14 degrees. Odd.
