Entire Dalmatian foxglove

My foxglove has turned completely brown, possibly due to fungus. Are the seeds still safe to scatter; or should I toss the entire plant?

all my Foxgloves are brown, they're over and we're in a drought here. If there are seeds they should be viable.

If they have fungus they will be white,  brown shows the season is over for foxgloves and they’re ready to die down.
They are woodland plants liking shade and moisture,  everything is suffering at the moment,  you can let the seeds drop or collect them and sow in a tray later.
They may not be Dalmatian next time,  they sometimes revert to plain colours.

Foxgloves die off in the late summer … perfectly natural. 😊

  • Agree with @nutcutlet and @Lyn.  Don't be misled about endless disease possibilities when it is simply a natural progression for that particular plant.

They are normally biannual, so grow one year, flower the next and then die with the seeds scattering and repeating the cycle.

Biennial. Biannual means twice a year
