Climbing Rose

Hi there,  i have a problem with my climbing rose  (Pauls Scarlet) it flowers brilliantly all year but it seems to throw long stems out and I'm don't know what to do , should I tie them in or cut them off  ? The rose is 8yrs old and the  main stems are  quite thick about 40/50mm.
Keep up the great work thanks Tony.

Tie in the ones you want and cut off the ones you don't want. Prune out the oldest stems in February/March to thin it out a bit.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
