Delphinium question

Afternoon,

I have a delphinium that has flowered once this season and I cut back. It has since put on an impressive growth spurt and there are signs of new flowers coming. However, the leaves do seem to be lightly covered with a powdery white substance.

Does anyone know what this is? Is it harmful, should I treat it? If so, what with.

I’ve attached a pic to help.

Many thanks

  • It's powdery mildew and I think It's from a water shortage - but I don't know how to fix it as I have plenty of plants with it myself!! I'm sure someone will advise

Powdery Mildew.  Spray with Rose Clear Ultra.  Just follow the instructions on the spray bottle.

Plants that have been stressed by drought often succumb to powdery mildew … keep your plant well watered.  If we get any more of these incredibly hot days I’d move it into the shade.

Due to the drought and heat I think this season is going to be a short one for many flowering plants … it will soon be autumn and the delphinium will be dying back soon anyway. Fungicide won’t change that, and there are increasing concerns about the damage that fungicides are doing to the environment and to our health.
