Help identifying?

aidanhoadaidanhoad Posts: 174
Hi all,

Couple of things I’d appreciate some help identifying…

The first looks somewhat familiar and has popped up amongst my griselinia - sorry picture not great, wasn’t easy to photograph.

The second seems to have appeared in a grassy area this year, to me it looks almost like a beech tree leaf?

Any help much appreciated!

Thank you.
Aidan.

    Hi @nutcutlet

thank you - the birch in question seems to be spreading along a grassed area, is this normal?

Birch gets around very easily  ;)
I'd get rid of the willow too. They get huge, and aren't terribly attractive. They seed around very easily - as you've discovered.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Hi @Fairygirl

ill take the goat willow out, don’t want it interfering with the griselinia!

The birch I might leave as it’s appearing in front of a fence which is actually quite ugly and if it grows big enough would cover it nicely and give a bit of shelter…

How does it spread? It seems odd to see clumps of it here and there.
