Erecting a secondary acoustic fence one meter from my boundary

    Acoustic fencing must help a bit as we've noticed some stretches of motorway near housing have them? I presume they wouldn't do that if it wasn't effective.

    It might be an attempt by the council. It would be interesting to find out how effective they actually are.
  • We have a 2.5m high acoustic fence between our garden and the main road. We did have to apply for planning permission for it but there was no problem with getting it. I think this is because we live in the middle of the countryside on an unrestricted A road. I would have thought it wouldn't be so easy to get permission in a built up area. It has made a massive difference to noise in our garden.

    Yes, they do. Each situation is different though, in that the design of the barrier is dependant upon many factors...and how loud the noise source is.
