I've decided to plant more ornamental grasses in future @GardenerSuze, I haven't watered any of mine and they have kept the garden going!

@Plantminded I agree Grasses are favourites of mine too. They should be more widely used. Always reliable in a dry summer. Dramatic summer into Autumn and many are so good through the winter.  Favourites include Calamagrostis Overdam and C Karl Foester, Molinia Transparent and M The Rocket also Stipa Gold Fontane, Pannicum Mum's Best Red and Molinia Poul Petersen all still looking good. They can make a border with other plants weaved through them.

Thank you for your recommendations @GardenerSuze, I'll add them to my list!  I have Calamagrostis Karl Foerster too, as individual specimens and as a screen, several Miscanthus species, Nassella, Hakonechloa (green and variegated varieties) and Panicum Northwind which is narrow and columnar like Karl Foerster.  I agree with you, they are often overlooked but can really transform a garden, particularly in winter.
