I've been trying to dig it out of a customer's clay soil for over a year now! It spreads down and out for miles and like bind weed it appears that of you leave a tiny piece you will have more plants.... Any tips on getting rid?

@linzi64uk I have a beautiful golden leaved form called Acanthus Hollard's Gold. They do take up a lot of space in a garden and are happy to wander through other plants. Interesting you found it whilst out, something you don't really see in the wild, maybe it had taken over someone's garden.

  • @GardenerSuze. It may have as there are gardens just behind the walk. I just thought it was lovely to see it, wondering if it had layed dormant whilst all the trees were around it. 😊
  • We have one that decided to take over an area. We didn't mind when it went one way but did mind when it went another. VERY difficult to get rid of the wayward one. As @WonkyWomble says just leave a tiny bit and on it grows.

@WonkyWomble I did have some elsewhere in the garden, after years of digging it did give up. Guess it is one plant that will survive the drought!
