We seem to have lost "our" huge female toad this year, she used to sit outside our front door on summer evenings in the cool, we had to make sure the light went on before stepping out!
Move the bag of compost to somewhere that gets on sun and the toad will be fine. It doesn't need a pond as they only need one for breeding. If the bag gets too try the toad will move on.
Finger trouble. For 'on sun' read 'no sun'. It does make a slight difference. Also for 'try' read 'dry'. I was obviously having a dab dya.
We had a wren nesting in our hose case. Luckily it wasn’t a very dry summer. Havent seen either of the two toads that lived near our front and back doors. Only found one small frog while weeding the edges of the patio. Maybe just too dry?
