Euronymous hard prune

Hi
i have an old euronymous, about 8 ft tall. It’s looking tatty and has bare patches. I want to hard prune it, down to 4ft. Will it survive a hard prune and at any time of year?

Is it evergreen or deciduous?

My evergreen has had a hard prune or two to keep it to about 4'. Photos are useful if you have them, close-up and distant.
