Sad looking bay tree

Can anyone help me with my bay tree.

It’s been looking very sad in the hot weather that we’ve been having, and I’ve decided to bring it from the front of the house to the back, tonight.
Wanting to save it.
At the front it was under a porch, shade in the morning and has full sun in the afternoon.
In the back it will have full sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon.
I’ve done the bark test and it seems to be alive.

The pot it is in, doesn’t have a hole at the bottom. It is also deep for the size of the plant. I wanted height for the plant.
So the questions are
1) is the pot too big for it?
2) should I repot it in a smaller and narrower pot?
3) pot with a hole?
4) take off all
the leaves and see if the branches will regrow new leaves?

I would stick my hand in the compost and find out how wet it is at root level. The pot is so deep it probably isn't standing in water but a hole at the bottom is essential.
If it were mine I wouldn't do anything more unless it is waterlogged, I would let it rest in damp but not soggy soil in a cool position. If it does recover I would repot it VERY carefully in a smaller container in a mix of JI3, GPC and a bit of soil. Add some grit to help it drain.
