Dead pigeon in water butt

Hi do I need to empty out water butt if dead pigeon has been in it, it stinks

    Use the water for your pots/garden - the smell will soon dissipate.  To ensure the same thing doesn't occur again, ensure the water butt has a tight fitting lid  :)

    Nothing useful to add but it did lead to me to look up an episode of Fawlty Towers - "No - is hamster!" :D So, thanks for cheering me up.

    I'd agree with @philippasmith2 on the best course of action.

    Depending where you live,our local paper said a couple of weeks ago,there was bird flu in our county, Wealdon,and you should be extremely careful touching dead birds.  Biglad,",is filligree hamster"
