Guttering on shed

We have recently acquired a shed on our allotment and want make the most of collecting rainwater. Our problem is that the opening window sits just below the eaves which would mean we couldn’t open the window. Any one have any ideas on how to overcome this.

  • Take photo if you can.
If it's a full length opening window change the hinges around so it swings from the top of the frame?

Could you put a length of guttering on the other side?

Difficult then!  You have a dip in the roofing felt as well which will collect water.  Not sure if the batten holding the felt would take the guttering brackets.
    Don't know what to suggest.

Replace/turn the windows so they’re hinged at the top and open at the bottom, if you get me?

  • Thanks Dove from above. The hinges are at the top and as the window’s hinges are right under the eaves if we put up guttering the window wouldn’t be able to open.

What do you intend doing in the shed?  Do you need the window open.

You’ll still need to straight out the felt by putting in some support struts. The rain will puddle and it won’t be long before it collapses.

Clamp-on brackets are great for sheds like this. https://www.freeflush.co.uk/products/halls-clip-on-shed-guttering-kit You could always have a removable or movable section of gutter above the window that can be taken out of the way when you want to open it.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Could you put guttering under the windows instead? It might look odd but it would still work.
  • Thank you Wild Edges love the clamp on brackets. Will have to read Reviews but it certainly looks like the answer.
