Hellebore Query

AnniDAnniD Posts: 12,585
As part of a redesign of a flowerbed, l've been digging up various plants including Hellebores.
The soil was like concrete.
One of them has leaves that are turning a pale rusty yellow colour. I've given the rootball a good soak, but l'm not sure whether to cut all the leaves off before l pot it up.
There are signs of new shoots at the base of each leaf joint but l don't know what to do for the best.
Apologies for lack of photos, l can take one tomorrow if needs be.

I regularly take off dodgy foliage on mine @AnniD. The H.nigers are particularly shabby through summer.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I think l'm just worried about getting rid of all of them @Fairygirl. There aren't even one or two that look reasonably okay.
  • If there are definitely new shoots at the base it should be ok to cut off the old foliage as long as you feed and water the plant to help it grow the new foliage.  I cut off the old leaves on mine when I move or pot up plants.
