Lilac Japanese Anenome

Can anybody tell me if this plant has been sprayed with weed killer or is it the hot weather that has turned it dry and flaky. As i live in a shared garden.

Likely the weather. I know they say plant in full sun,my back garden is north facing, but always sun somewhere. My "frilly knickers" which was expensive has died,I've dug up a white one and put in shade. The ones I have in semi shade are huge.

@irenebaylis4v3hlB-f Yes I agree looks like hot sun has dried it out.

Yes - just looks like heat damage unfortunately. They do best in a shadier, cooler spot. In more sun, they need to be consistently moist to keep them green.
There's some good new growth visible, and if there's buds, or some forming,  they'll still flower. You can then just remove the damaged foliage.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

On the positive the Liac/ Pink forms like Queen Charlotte are tough. Capable of going under a garden wall and out the other side.  Hopefully you will still have some flowers.
I think I would give it a big can of water.
