Rose identification

Cecelia-LCecelia-L Posts: 120
Hi!

I had come across some very neglected rose and have successfully nursed them back to health. I have cut back the diseased roots, repotted in new soil and compost, trimmed back dead branches and kept aphids and sawflies at bay. Even though some more branches have died but four out of five have flowered and all are alive and well!

I would love to put a name to a face so to speak.

If you have any possible ideas of what they could be please shout out. It will give me a starting point to research. Some of these I love so much I’d like to buy more of them.

Purple rose. Strongly scented. Much smaller than Blue Moon and appears to be a shrub rose rather than a climbing rose, for the time being at least. Small soft bristle type of thorns.

Hot orange rose
Flowers for max three days

Soft coral rose
flowered for a week. Huge rose, the size of my hand!

No idea I’m afraid, Cecelia, but the first one could well be Blue Moon or Twice in a Blue Moon since blooms are often smaller in summer/heat. Could you describe the fragrance?

More photos of the bush, leaves, thorns etc, as much detail as you can, would be helpful for the other two..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

    @Nollie

Thanks. The scent is sweeter than Blue Moon. Appears to be the same shade of purple. Highly likely to be it!

I have taken some more pictures of the stem and leaves of the other mystery  roses. They are mostly old wood so looking a bit worse for wear!

    Orange rose
flowered during the heat wave on 19/07/22

Coral rose. Repeat flowering by the look of it. Flowered on 01/07/22
    Almost no scent.
