Hydrangea Vs lobelia

Are the lobelias in the 2 pots choking the hydrangea. If so, should I pull them out?

    They won’t be choking it,  they’re just annuals,  you’ll pull them out when they’ve finished flowering.

    Probably helping by keeping the roots cool too.
    Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
