    @Woodgreen - thank you. I did wonder if it might be astrantia but have never seen one so purple. Of course the photo may have altered the colour when printed.

    Not that you have asked, I think the rose is Queen of Sweden.

    I have taken original pic and trimmed it...maybe this will help.
    Maybe this shows more clearly the ones I believe to be Cirsium rivulare atropurpureum.

    istle flower without any prickles.
