There does appear to be some delayed reaction from the big scorch. I've two wisteria that I planted this year, they were doing really well, but looking at them this morning, they've suffered quite a bit. I'm only spot watering where the plants are suffering.

1st year rhubarb is still prostrate even after watering :(

Also noted that aphids are dying or have died. Guess that's a bit of a silver lining.

Yes! I have just got back home and no plant has died; no devastation. Checking my Nabob, there is not a blackfly in site. Two weeks ago the whole thing was encrusted. How amazing is that!? Too hot for aphids? That's a new one on me.

I have lost a Daphne and a few penstemons; all were in pots without saucers  :'(

Think most leaves have dried out so much their is nothing left for the aphids.

My damp-ish loving plants went over in a week - filipendula and milk parsley, but the seed heads look good. A shame, though having waited so long for them to flower. My thalictrum are just starting.

My green peppers are scorched on their upended ends.  My heuchera is dried up despite constant waterings.  As @februrysgirl said already here - they bounce back - I hope so, it was magnificent.   Strangely enough, I have some lovely roses!   The wind here is drying and the land is thirsty.  We are experiencng very high temperatures everyday - burning up.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
