Lavender leaves going yellow

Hello. A few weeks ago the leaves started to go yellow on my lavender. Previously very healthy and vigorous plant. I removed all the old flowers and chopped it back a bit. Started to flower again and new grow green. But why the yellowing?

I think they can turn yellow due to an excess of nitrogen in the soil as well.
