What are these brown stems on the cheese plant?

Hi all, I just got this big cheese plant from a neighbour. It looks very healthy apart from the lots of brown stems. I'll repot it and put up some support, and wonder if I can just cut away those brown stems please? Thanks!

From the website: "In Monsteras, however, there are two main functions of aerial roots: to help anchor the plant to a support, such as a tree or moss pole, and to take up moisture from the air, increasing the plant’s access to water. Support is the primary purpose of a Monstera deliciosa’s aerial roots"
If yours doesn't have a moss pole that its aerial roots can attach themselves to, you can trim them off.

Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Thanks! Yeah I think the plant has been growing without any support and the aerial roots have become quite messy. I'll trim off the ones that have broken and take some cuttings too. Hope it'll get into a better shape!
