    Nope … it’s a Gaillardia aka Blanket Flower … my Gardening Granny loved them … they’re so cheerful 😄 

    and she grew up in Luton!!! … her father in law was the mayor six times between the wars … by the time I was born she was living and gardening in Heath & Reach.

    Thank you, @Dovefromabove! Never seen one and haven't the faintest idea where it has come from, but it is rather eye-catching and can stay. :)

    (Perhaps it's seed descended from your granny's garden here!)

    I would have sighed resignedly and adjusted the weed to proper plant ratio of the garden from 50:50 to 51:49, lol 

    Good to know, @Lyn! These might be a good alternative to the tagetes that the slugs all munched.🤔
