Leaves v branches
Hi folks,
When selecting a new tree...
Some have more leaves than branches...
Some have lots of branches but leaves are less dense...
Which of the 2 trees would you choose as being healthier?
Thanks

What growing conditions the tree prefers and if you can meet those conditions.
How tall/wide it will grow and if you have the space for it.
Will planting it affect other plants, by using the water/nutrients in the soil they have had to themselves so far?
Is the tree deciduous or evergreen? Will it block out light all year round or just in the summer?
Once you have decided on your tree, then look at the specimens for sale and go for the healthiest looking one. Leaves come and go.
However, the general health and appearance would be more important than simply the number of branches/leaves. Young trees won't have as many branches anyway. Generally speaking, they develop as the tree matures.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fruit trees earn their place by being prolific bearers and/or being beautiful.
To that end, I'd suggest that you keep both plum trees - one as backup, the other to practice your artistic and horticultural skills on.
Have you considered making the tree into an exotic structure to hang the fruit on? Something like a multi candelabra or a structure resembling a multi arm goddess or an ascending dragon?
As-is, the trees are out of proportion for their containers. They are too lanky - I would prune off half the height once the trunks have thickened to at least an inch in diameter. For now, just clip off the branch tips to encourage branching further down the trunks and let them grow.
Regarding the almond, how do you want the future tree to look? Do a google image search if you're unsure as that will guide your pruning decisions.
No, its not for the sake of planting...im interested in their fruit...im also interested in the shade and privacy they provide from neighbours.
To me a plant that has more foilage seems healthier than one that has branches but fewer leaves...
I wanted an answer to whether thats right or not but havent got an answer yet.
Yes i was thinking to cut to half too to allpw the trunk to catch up a little.
A multi armed goddess? Or an ascending dragon...
Sounds very occult : p
Demons exist you know.
I was speaking to someone who claims to be a spiritualist and he claims to have had numerous encounters with these kind of entities. Dragons tend to be oppressive apparently.
