Hello :) Hoping someone may be able to identify a plant growing in the garden please?

Looks like the flowerhead of a semi cactus dahlia, there are cultivars with red tips to yellow petals, yours may be a seedling as it looks a bit messy compared to the cultivars on the market.
  • Thank you very much cmarkr  ☺️

Welcome to the forums natalie 1571.
Where was this plant please... UK or elsewhere.
In the wild or in a garden?
This mystery plant appears to be very near to the ground..with an evergreen leathery leaf.
It looks very exotic and tropical.
I do not believe it is any form of Dahlia.

It doesn't look like a dahlia to me either. It looks sort of plastic, some sort of weird exotic plant.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

  • Hi Silver Surfer. It’s in a garden in South Devon.

    Thanks for all your comments.

It reminds me somehow of the red Octopus Fungus …
