Yes I think that may be the answer, not only radish, but a lot of other foods too. The thing is (whatever it is) it seems to have a permanent effect because even when they're opened they stay fresh for a week or so.

I suppose if there are no live bacteria etc on the veg until the bag is opened it'll take a while for them to re-colonize and start the rotting process. I've been amazed to find 2 lettuce hearts in the salad drawer that are near perfect after several weeks.

I had a tame red pepper. It was in the fridge so long, it almost became a pet. I decided it must have been nuked so I never fancied eating it. They normally last a week or so.
