Garden hose nozzle fitting issue

I am trying to fit a brass nozzle to my garden hose. It feels like it should be easier than this, but I seem to be a component short. Is there a brass component I can buy (150mm diameter) that fits between two threaded ends (one at the end of the garden hose and the other fitted to the nozzle)

Thanks

Can you post a photo?  I can't visualise the problem, particularly what component of a garden hose would be 150mm, or 6 inches, in diameter.
  • Sorry 15mm ! Pics attached , thanks
  • Hard to tell from a picture if they are the same diameter but could you unscrew the whole brass fitting from the head and then screw in the fitting on the end of hose?

The spray gun is missing a plastic gripper ring and a shroud nut.

You cut the silver fitting off your hose, slide the shroud nut onto the hose, slide the gripper onto the hose (tapered end towards the shroud nut).

Then push the hose onto the spray gun connector tail and screw on the shroud nut. The gripper ring is smaller than the shroud nut so will fit inside it and, since it is tapered, the gripper will bite into the hose and lock it in place as the shroud nut is tightened.

Can you see the white plastic gripper rings on the two connectors - that will give you an idea on how it will work.

  • Thanks Pinut, that’s very helpful. What I was wondering however is why did that hose come with that fitting on the end of it ?

Emptyheadtime noted that the silver connector may be a direct fitting that screws into the spray gun itself.

As they suggested, remove the brass fitting: it is a quick-release push-on fitting similar to a Hoselock fitting so slide down the outer sleeve and pull apart. This should reveal a brass connector tail with flats for a spanner.

Take care not to cross thread or overtighten metal into plastic when testing for fit.
