    @Ergates. Using an address book is such a good idea, such an easy way to store them for later use. Yes, I too would have never entertained writing (defacing!) a book, but it makes total sense (and how lovely for those who use the books later to find notes).

    Thank you, I’m going to look and see if you can buy A4 size address indexes for files x

    @LesleyH, I did the same as you propose and kept A4 files with plastic pockets for magazine/newspaper articles - ended up with four and then gave up.

    I also keep all my plant labels in alphabetical order in old envelopes and A-Z tabs in a shoebox in the kitchen. I try to remember to write on the label the date I got the plant.

    I do try to be organised but it doesn't always work! Definitely not as organised as @SYinUSA - that's impressive!

    Good luck with your project, I find my records handy, especially in the winter when I've more time to read back.

    @Lizzie27

    Thank you for replying. That sounds like a lovely system to look through for you.

    This has become a lovely post with some really interesting information and ideas.

    The trouble with me is that I need everything in one place! I was going to do what you do with shoe boxes but I’m not that organised. In the winter I’m definitely starting up an Excel like @SYinUSA. And then as I had decided before, arch lever file with compartments.

    Somebody needs to come up with a storage system that can be personalised, go on Dragon’s Den with  it and then make their fortune!

    if they work out I’ll put some photos up

    This thread made me wonder - is there an app where you could pick a plant and have it populate the planner with info such as pruning/care etc for each month??

    Most hobbies seem to be covered by tech but gardening?

    The RHS's My Garden feature on their website attempts to do that but I haven't played with it much. It does seem to state the bloomin' obvious and sometimes I don't agree with it, for example today it says "water borders and containers regularly" but this is attached to only 12 plants, some of which are established shrubs that don't need regular watering.
