What would you plant here?

So this is how our year-old pond now looks:

The gaps in the planting in the border above it are between the black waterfall box, the verbena and the patio - around 30x30cm - and the one between the lavender and the daisy - around 50x30cm.

I had designs on a grand rodgersia to go next to the waterfall box and hang over it but I'm not sure how it would look next to the grasses and I appreciate it has very different watering requirements (though doable with the irrigation system weaved through the border). I had also wondered about some aubretia or campanula to trail over the stones above the pond.

I'm a novice gardener, finding my feet, and always find inspiration from what others would do with my space. Given what we've got - the calamagrostis and verbena forming a screen to nextdoor - what would you plant in the spaces?

Ornamental grasses would look good (smallish ones); Erigeron would soften and spread to fill nooks and crannies.

Thanks @Loxley. I think I'll go with some Erigeron between the grasses at the front of the border.

I wonder whether a sedum, something like a Purple Empower or Munstead Red, would fill out the gap between the calamagrostis quite nicely?

I was thinking Sedum as well, S. 'Matrona' is my favourite, the more subtle purple colouration is more attractive IMO.
