  • Hello again.
My Kabocha has grown to deep orange!
Hence I guess that it is Red Kuri. Thank you everybody who answered earlier.

    Now I have another question.
When is the riht time to harvest?
This one flowered first week of July.  I read Japanese sites and they say it will be 40 -50 days after flowering.  Then I referenced UK/USA sites and they say to wait till just before frost.
    When is the right time?

Thank you again for your help.

I would say that’ll soon be ready … the stalk is brown and drying nicely.

Cut through the longer stem each side of the brown stalk so you have a ‘T’ shaped ‘handle’.

And yes, it looks like Uchiki Kuri to me.

    😊

Enjoy!  My squash haven’t produced many this year … but the ones we have are looking good 👍

  • Thank you! All my second flash of fruits were killed off by the extreme 38 degree heats.  I am hoping that the third flush survives the last four days' heat.  Good luck with yours too!
