Horsetail/witches fingers taking over grass!

Hi, first time post and looking for some help! We had new turf laid last October and the last few months have noticed quite a few weeds growing up. We would expect this given the state of the garden before but we now have horsetails/witches fingers (whatever you want to call them) taking over the lawn 😫 When I first noticed them a few months back I pulled them up as I know they are deep rooted, and was going to keep doing that until they died back but I think that was a mistake! As they're now growing in bunches and are barely indistinguishable from the grass when pulling up! Can anyone recommend a grass safe weed killer to spray directly on to them, or would I be best to just ignore them and mow the grass as normal and hope they die back? Any help would be appreciated!! Picture attached for reference 😊

In grass, I would be tempted to just pretend they aren't there and keep mowing regularly. They will probably, in time, calm down a bit although they'll probably always be with you. Eradicating them can be done but it's really, really hard, and to be fair in a lawn, they're not that awful.

Hi @lisa_cunliffe58 I am not sure you can spray marestail in a lawn.  I guess cutting the grass will weaken it over time. An impossible weed to deal with.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
