Lemanchelier looking very sick

Our mature Lemanchelier has been a reliable, mature presence in our garden for all of the 20 or so years we've lived here. White flowers, give way to berries which are eagerly chomped by the same blackbirds and pigeons (so it seems..)

Recently I've noticed more dead branches than normal. Plus it seems to be autumning itself already with leaves turning red. Apart from cutting out dead branches, I've not touched this tree for yonks.  The only other major thing we've done is removed  a tall cypress tree a year ago. It's it possible that's upset the water balance below ground? It was about 10 metres away.

Any thoughts would be very welcome. Thank you.

@terrywhite_211 Would it be possible for you to load a photo please. Don't worry if it is upside down.

Papi- I thought I might get more 'hits' if I made it sound like a French species 😉

Apologies for the error, I don't know where that word came from. It looks I just invented it.

@tdubya211 No worries I did know what tree you were referring too. I am unable to give you much help I am hoping that another forum member will have more experience and will be able to help. I will say that everything is suffering at present, leaves turning red at this time of year isn't good.

I noticed yesterday evening that ours is looking a bit thirsty … I’m going to leave the hose trickling after it’s roots for a couple of hours today.
We’re on freedraining loam over chalk so quite a few trees in the area are looking a bit thirsty at the moment.

It has been so dry this year, I expect the tree is behaving as though it is Autumn already. Lots of water is the best solution.
