My lilac has never flowered

I have had this lilac in my garden for about 8 years and it has been grown from a single stick with one leaf to this. But it has never flowered. It is in a border which gets morning and late afternoon sunshine and as you can see is very healthy. Can anyone shed some light on this please.

  • Do you feed the plant or plants around it?

I can see that it’s been pruned.  At what time of year to you prune it?
Lilacs form next year’s buds in early summer so any cutting back should be done before the end of May to ensure next year’s buds aren’t removed.

  • Apparently they can take 7 years or possibly more to bloom, they love full sun,
