Buddielia

Can you tell me what is causing this on my Buddielia please and what I can do to solve only just planted three weeks ago to encourage the Butterflies. Any advice would be welcome.

    Looks like it's been sprayed with something?
    Trying to be the person my dog thinks I am!

    Assume it was fine when you bought it. A lot has happened to it in three weeks. I think I would cut it back it should respond well you may loose flowers. Then ensure it has a good soak twice a week until ot establishes which will probably be Autumn.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    As @GardenerSuze says,  cut it back and keep watering.  You can’t expect a plant that tall to take in this heat.   It will soon shoot out again. 
    Looks like its planted too near the fence,  these shrubs grow very big, even when cut right back in Spring.   Needs to be at least 3’ from the fence. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    Yes agree with @Lyn 3 feet from fence should be ideal it's amazing how quickly they grow. This will also help you when you need to get at it to prune it in the future.

  • Thankyou not been sprayed with anything we will move and cut back it appears that something is eating the leaf’s .
