Re-thinking or correcting first year enthusiasm mistakes
in Plants
The first year cherry tree on dwarf stock is growing really well, but I think I've planted it too near the fence. On the other side of the fence is the neighbour's narrow pathway. The other side of their path is a windowless brick wall of their extension (this does have guttering over the path).
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be able to complain if the cherry over grows into their space as their sycamore is way taller than their and our house, and it's over-reaching over our fence into our garden by almost half. I don't mind as I really like the tree.
My questions are; could I prune the cherry to be an espalier along the fence, if I did that would I have to move the first year Super Fairy rose, or do you think the rose might like grow through the cherry branches?
Or should I move the tree, after it's dropped it leaves, a few feet forward and let it grow in a natural shape?
Decisions, decisions
