Splitting Allium bulbs

I've pulled a couple of the stems up from my Allium Purple Sensation as they were falling over and starting to yellow. However, this one wasn't quite ready to come away from the bulb ;)

Can I split this into two separate viable bulbs? If so, is there a 'best' time to do this?

@Biglad I think I would go ahead and replant with the others. The problem is they are probably smaller and may not flower next year, you could be waiting longer than that.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
